摘要 : The attentional blink (AB) phenomenon is a cognitive limitation that refers to the failure in identifying the second target if it follows the first one in close temporal proximity (200–500 ms). However, more recent studies have demonstrated that AB task performance greatly differs among individuals. This behavioral heterogeneity in AB has promoted research on exploring the predictive value of individual differences. The present study examined how AB magnitudes were related to personal cognitive styles. The Embedded Figures Test was carried out to classify participants' cognitive styles, along with the manipulation of the physical characteristics of distractors in the rapid serial visual presentation paradigm (RSVP) as two levels of inhibition (target–distractor similarity). Results from two experiments of varying difficulty revealed that the AB effect varied between field-dependent (FD) and field-independent (FI) individuals. The AB magnitude in FD individuals was more easily influenced by different inhibition levels of distractors, compared to the FI individuals. Results are interpreted in terms of the contemporary theories of AB that highlighted the inhibitory control over attention.

摘要 : It is of general concern how poverty concentrates in cities, due to its close association with social equality issues. This research explores this topic at a citywide level. Spatial data of social housing regarding 2008 to 2020 in Shanghai are utilized to examine how the concentration patterns for low-to-moderate-income groups have changed. Multiple methods including spatial autocorrelation analysis, location quotient (LQ), and Mann–Whitney U test were employed to assess the spatial distribution of, and concentration patterns in, social housing, as well as investigating whether the spatial distribution of urban resources was equitable for residents in social housing. We found that the low-to-moderate-income groups were previously concentrated at the boundary of central city and then gradually deconcentrated into a relatively even pattern. However, it is important to note that this process has not effectively facilitated social equality due to the unequitable distribution of urban resources. Consequently, we recommend that policy makers in developing countries pay particular attention to site selection for social housing and the distribution of urban amenities in the future. © 2024 by the authors.

摘要 : This study aims to predict financial distress in an emerging country using data on ST listed companies in China from 2001 to 2021. A new Aalen hazard model with mixed data sampling (MIDAS) is adopted to investigate the impact of monthly macroeconomic variables and quarterly financial variables on financial distress. The empirical results show that the current ratio, operating profit ratio, current capital ratio, retention ratio, profit ratio and income ratio of listed companies have a significant impact on the time-varying intensity of financial distress. The consumer price index has a negative relation with the intensity of financial distress, while the production price index and credit spreads have a positive influence. Finally, the results of the robustness tests are consistent with those with different lag orders.

摘要 : This study aimed to explore the influence of word priming on mathematical problem solving. In two experiments, participants were required to finish multiplication estimation tasks with a specified estimation strategy under different word priming conditions (Experiment 1: concrete words vs. Experiment 2: abstract words). The results showed that: (1) under the concrete word priming condition, in comparison to neutral, positive word priming improved accuracies (ACCs) when using a down-up strategy (e.g., doing 40 × 80 = 3200 for 43 × 78), while both positive and negative word priming reduced reaction time (RT); (2) under the abstract word priming condition, both positive and negative (vs. neutral) abstract word priming reduced RTs, while individuals’ ACCs of completing the estimation task were not influenced by valence. The present study showed that whether concrete words or abstract words were adopted as experimental stimuli, participants’ performance of completing mathematical problems was modulated by the valence of the priming word, which led us to develop a better understanding of how arithmetic performance is influenced by word processing. © 2024 The Authors. 摘要 : The rapid development of urbanization is gradually reducing opportunities for human beings to interact with the natural environment, and environmental pressures have brought about many additional negative emotions for humans. Among them, the mental health problems of college students should be given social attention. Previous research has indicated that natural landscapes exhibit a greater capacity for ameliorating negative emotional states in individuals when compared to urban landscapes. Nevertheless, significant scientific inquiries, such as the uniformity of the rejuvenating effect across distinct categories of natural landscapes and the choice of the optimal plant community for achieving the most potent restorative effect, remain unexplored. This study aimed to address these questions by selecting four plant communities (single-layer grassland, single-layer woodland, tree-grass composite woodland, tree-shrub-grass composite woodland) and using an electroencephalography method to capture the neuroelectric activity of the participants in combination with the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule score to explore the effects of plant community types on emotional recovery. Our results showed that all four plant communities significantly increased positive emotions and significantly reduced negative emotions. Specifically, there was no significant difference in the recovery effect of positive emotions among the four plant community types, but there was a significant difference in the recovery effect of negative emotions. The negative emotion-recovery effect of tree-shrub-grass composite woodland was significantly better than that of tree-grass composite woodland, single-layer grassland, and single-layer woodland, respectively. The electroencephalography findings demonstrated congruence with the behavioral outcomes, revealing a marked elevation in the power of the alpha frequency band within the brain induced by exposure to the tree-shrub-grass composite woodland when compared to exposure to the tree-grass composite woodland, single-layer grassland, and single-layer woodland conditions. The outcomes underscore the superior rejuvenation efficacy of the tree-shrub-grass composite woodland, thereby yielding substantial ramifications for the realms of landscape planning and design.

摘要 : The higher the financing constraints (FC), the more unfavourable to the high-quality development of enterprises (HDE). Is this really the case? Through the data of listed companies, this paper finds that: (1) FC do not necessarily inhibit HDE, which is mainly manifested in the asymmetric inverted U-shaped relationship. (2) The initial FC are conducive to HDE by promoting R&D expenditure, and the later FC are unfavourable to HDE by inhibiting R&D expenditure. (3) The R&D expenditure of heterogeneous enterprises has mediating effects in varying degrees, and the role of R&D expenditure in promoting the high-quality development of non-state-owned enterprises (Non-SOE) is higher than that of state-owned enterprises (SOE), the impact on enterprises of different sizes is basically the same, and the role in promoting eastern and central enterprises is slightly higher than that of western enterprises. (4) The phased characteristics of the mediating role of technological progress (TP) under different measurement standards are quite opposite. The initial FC promotes HDE by reducing the R&D intensity, and the later FC are not conducive to HDE by improving the R&D intensity. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

摘要 : As China’s urbanization rate continues to rise, new cities are constantly being built, and the popularity of sustainable concepts has led to the development of numerous green infrastructure projects. The increase in green resources has improved the overall urban environment, but this environmental improvement can lead to local stratification and give rise to a phenomenon known as “green gentrification”. Green gentrification can enhance neighborhood vitality but may also lead to negative consequences, such as the displacement of indigenous populations. This study primarily focuses on whether there is residential segregation and social differentiation between indigenous residents and newcomers due to green gentrification and whether they hold different views on green infrastructure. To address these issues and advance the cause of urban fairness and justice, break down neighborhood segregation, and promote community integration, we conducted satisfaction surveys and in-depth personal interviews with indigenous residents and newcomers regarding the Julong Lake facility, their individual circumstances, and the neighborhood relationships. The survey results revealed the following: (1) Both the indigenous residents and the newcomers expressed a relatively high satisfaction with the sports facilities at Julong Lake, but both groups reported a lower satisfaction with the neighborhood relationships. (2) The indigenous residents exhibited a lower satisfaction compared to the newcomers regarding the commercial facilities, social attributes, and green infrastructure surrounding Julong Lake. Additionally, the overall satisfaction with Julong Lake was lower for the indigenous residents compared to the newcomers. We synthesized the survey results and personal interviews with the indigenous residents and the newcomers and arrived at the following conclusions: (1) In the context of urbanization and uneven distribution of green resources in urban areas, the integration of suburban green resources with real estate development has given rise to the new phenomenon of an emerging green middle class, primarily driven by green resources. (2) The new residents exhibited higher satisfaction levels with Julong Lake park attributes and their personal circumstances compared to the long-term residents. This suggests a “green preference” among the new residents, leading to social stratification among the long-term residents driven by cultural aesthetics and value pursuits. The result of this is a stratification and adjacent residential segregation between the long-term residents and the newcomers. (3) The emerging green middle class areas have, on the one hand, promoted the migration of capital, middle-class populations, and green resources to the suburbs, to some extent favoring suburban green development. In conclusion, we hope that this research can help facilitate more equitable allocation of green resources in cities, formulate more optimal green policies, and promote harmonious coexistence and the sharing of the benefits of green development among residents of different income levels in urban areas. © 2023 by the authors.

摘要 : ObjectiveThe percentage of adolescents with test anxiety is increasing rapidly. Working memory (WM) training has been demonstrated to reduce anxiety levels and enhance attentional control in individuals. Therefore, we investigated whether adaptive dual n-back WM training could lower test anxiety level and improve attentional control in adolescents.MethodsForty adolescents were allocated to either adaptive dual n-back WM training (n = 21) or non-adaptive dual 1-back WM training (n = 19) for 10 days. The Test Anxiety Scale was applied to measure individuals' test anxiety symptoms. The Attentional Control Scale (ACS), the flanker task, and the Go/Nogo task were used to measure attentional control.ResultsCompared with the control group, the training group reported significantly relief of test anxiety symptoms' however, there were no significant differences between the two groups in pre-to-post changes in ACS scores or performance on the flanker task and Go/Nogo task.ConclusionIn sum, adaptive dual n-back WM training effectively reduced adolescents' level of test anxiety but did not improve their attentional control.

摘要 : The aim of this study is to investigate the fair allocation of multi-objective cooperative games (MOCGs) using a preemptive goal programming (PGP). First, this research establishes the PGP model, where the priority factors of PGP describe the importance degrees of different objectives in MOCGs, the positive and negative deviations of PGP present the relation between the overall payoff and the worth of a coalition, and the weighting factors of negative deviations of PGP express the coalition weights of MOCGs. Second, we investigate the relationships between the solutions of the PGP model and the cores of MOCGs, including the preference core, preference (Formula presented.) -core, and dominance core. Our analysis shows that the optimal solution of PGP belongs to the preference core, and the satisfactory solution of PGP satisfying certain conditions belongs to the dominance core or preference (Formula presented.) -core. Finally, we demonstrate the practical and managerial relevance of our results by applying our findings to a multi-objective linear production to produce certain kinds of goods using different resources for multi-firms with varying objectives and illustrate them numerically. © 2022 The Authors.
