摘要 : The objective of this study was to examine the intervention effect of group sensory integration training on social responsiveness, and the latency and amplitude of N170 event-related potential of children with autism. The social responsiveness scale was employed to assess alterations in the social response of individuals with ASD before and after training, while event-related potentials were utilized to measure changes in N170 latency and amplitude. This study revealed that group sensory integration training can significantly enhance social responsiveness in children diagnosed with ASD. Children with ASD exhibit atypical N170 responses to faces in the right parietal region. The latency of N170 changes may serve as a valuable indicator for assessing the effectiveness of an intervention or diagnosing ASD.

摘要 : Purpose The purpose of this study is to explore the economic impact of financial restatements by major customers on the audit opinion of their suppliers, showing that non-financial information disclosure potentially helps auditors make better assessments. Design/methodology/approach Using a sample of China's listed firms from 2007 to 2021, the authors aim to find the relationship between customers' financial restatements and their suppliers' audit opinions. Heckman selection model, placebo tests and other robustness checks are used as well. Findings The findings reveal that customers' financial restatements have a significant effect on the likelihood of suppliers receiving modified audit opinions. This relationship is pronounced when suppliers face a higher level of financial constraints, exhibit poorer accounting conservatism or receive more negative media coverage. Additionally, this effect occurs through increased business risk and information risk, which heightens auditors' perceived audit risk. Moreover, the study highlights the influence of switching costs, auditor expertise and restatement severity on this relationship. Practical implications Risks originating from customers can spread along the supply chain, emphasizing the necessity for auditors to give heightened attention to both the audited firms and their customer information. Moreover, regulators should carefully consider the important impact of customer information disclosures to maximize the protection of the interests of external information users. Originality/value This study not only confirms the crucial role of customer information disclosures in annual reports for stakeholders and auditors but also contributes to the existing literature on customer–supplier relationships.

摘要 : The aims of this study were to explore the predictive relationship between sleep quality and sense of coherence (SOC) and to examine a possible moderating role of mastery in this relationship. A three-wave longitudinal design was employed using a sample of 304 older adults aged 55–87 years old. Cross-lagged panel analyses and moderating effect analyses showed that sleep quality can predict the levels of SOC 6 months later, whereas SOC cannot predict sleep quality 6 months later. In addition, mastery can moderate the effect of sleep quality on SOC. Specifically, the lagged effects of sleep quality on SOC in older adults who had low levels of mastery were stronger than in those who had high levels of mastery. Overall, these findings provide valuable insights for understanding the predictive relationship between sleep quality and SOC and emphasise the moderating role of mastery. Also, our results offer important implications for enhancing the SOC in older adults by improving sleep quality and mastery.

摘要 : The mechanisms underlying the relationship between firms' digitalization transformation and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) are underexplored. Using a sample of Chinese listed firms from 2011 to 2020, this research explores the mechanisms whereby digitalization affects firms' ESG performance. We found: (i) digitalization transformation can effectively promote firms' ESG performance' (ii) digital transformation promotes firms' ESG performance by enhancing internal control and green innovation' and (iii) the positive effects between digital transformation and ESG performance are more pronounced in non-state-owned-enterprises (non-SOEs) and firms of the manufacturing industry, and hi-tech firms, as well as firms with a higher ratio of independent directors and higher analyst coverage. (iv) The government's supportive attitude towards industrial policy has a positive moderating effect on the impact of digital transformation on ESG performance, and the degree of marketization in the region where the firm is located has a negative moderating effect on the relationship between digital transformation and ESG performance. Our research deepens the understanding of the nuanced mechanism underlying the positive relationship between firms' digital transformation and their ESG performance.

摘要 : It should be recognized that women in long-distance commuting in China may suffer from unequal treatment. This study visualized gender differences and uneven reactions of women in long-distance commuting in Suzhou, China. We speculate on the potential spatial impact of employment equity among female long-distance commuters in Suzhou. The cartogram revealed that women's average long-distance commuting is longer, and their work destinations are mainly concentrated in Kunshan and the central city, where international companies gather.

摘要 : The concept of soft power has engendered lively discourse within the international community. The development of a nation's soft power frequently hinges on cultural communication and the promotion of language. This manuscript concentrates on Japan as a case study and undertakes an investigation of the methods it has employed to cultivate its soft power. To accomplish this objective, Japan's strategies for cultural communication and the promotion of the Japanese language are comprehensively examined. From the perspective of language planning, prestige planning of language and culture constitutes a crucial mode of cultural communication, whereas language education planning (or acquisition planning) is the primary method of language promotion. Japan has adeptly disseminated its culture overseas through cultural communication and language promotion. On one hand, it fashions a "cool culture" embodied by anime and manga to augment cultural appeal and amplify national image. On the other hand, it advances the Japanese language abroad by establishing supportive institutions, dispatching experts and volunteers, and creating online teaching materials. Building on Japan, this paper establishes a theoretical framework for the construction of soft power, employing the aforementioned two approaches as valuable guides for research on soft power.

摘要 : In recent years, an increasing number of studies have addressed the older adults' Information and Communication Technology acceptance, the majority of which concentrate on the use of computers and the internet. As smartphone use becomes further integrated into older adults' daily lives, it is important to investigate how perceptions about and use of smartphones intersect. This study (1) proposes an extended Technology Acceptance Model and tests the relationships between Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, Attitude, Behavioural Intention, Self-efficacy, Technology Anxiety, and Social Support in older adults' smartphone use by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA)' and (2) analyses the specific differences between primary, medium, and advanced use level groups in each construct by Q-cluster and ANOVAs. We conduct a community-based survey with a sample of 1, 006 older adults in East China. The data demonstrate that the extended model offered a good explanation of smartphone acceptance among the older adults, and the groups belong to different use levels show significant difference in all constructs. The findings indicate that digital divide is objectively inevitable in smartphone use, but the older adults are extremely diverse groups that do not uniformly conform to technology averse stereotypes.

摘要 : The relation between perceived general stress and problematic mobile phone use (PMPU) has been well established. With the outbreak of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the present study was designed to examine the associations between perceived stress of COVID-19 as a kind of event-related stress and PMPU, and the mechanisms underlying this relation. Participants were 724 adolescents ranging from 12 to 16 years old (M = 13.28, SD = 1.05) who completed four online questionnaires addressing perceived stress of COVID-19, search for meaning in life, escapism motivation, and PMPU. The results revealed that escapism motivation mediated the relationship between perceived stress of COVID-19 and PMPU. In addition, search for meaning in life played a moderating role between perceived stress of COVID-19 and escapism motivation. These findings extend the literature by addressing how and under what conditions perceived stress of COVID-19 can contribute to PMPU. We discussed the implications for developing targeted intervention programs aimed at reducing PMPU among adolescents.

摘要 : The present research sought to simultaneously examine across two field studies the effects of psychological contract violation on both affiliative and challenging forms of organizational citizenship behaviors, and, more critically, to explore how these effects varied as a function of a non-work exchange relationship factor (i.e., supervisor-subordinate guanxi) and/or a work context factor (i.e., job control). In Study 1, we found that psychological contract violation was negatively related to both helping and taking charge. Moreover, high levels of supervisor-subordinate guanxi weakened the relations of psychological contract violation with both helping and taking charge, whereas high levels of job control strengthened the relation of psychological contract violation with taking charge. These findings were largely replicated in Study 2 when using conscientiousness and voice as exemplars of affiliative and challenging behaviors, respectively. We conclude by discussing the theoretical and practical implications of our key findings.

摘要 : To explore to what extent and how corporate digitalization navigates green-tech innovation, using the 2011-2021 annual report data for China’s listed companies, the two-way Fixed Effect Model, Mediation Model, and Moderation Model have been applied to test the specific role of digitalization in fostering corporate green-tech innovation. Empirical results suggest that: (a) corporate green-tech innovation increases with the development of digitalization, and green-related organizational legitimacy mediates this process; (b) CEO characteristics significantly and positively moderate the relationship between digitalization and green-tech innovation, while CEO overconfidence negatively moderates the relationship between conformity legitimacy and green-tech innovation; (c) the moderating role of CEO characteristics changes with the differentiation of industry and property rights. Our empirical evidence shows that digitalization acts as an enabler of corporate green-tech innovation, and also highlights the efficacy of CEOs in this process. © 2024 Newcastle University.
